My research interests encompass the design, analysis, and implementation of numerical methods for solving inverse and ill-posed problems in general, with a particular focus on imaging. Related topics in signal and image processing also attract my interest. I am a board member of the CRC 1173 Wave Phenomena – Analysis and Numerics and lead projects C1 and C2, both of which concentrate on seismic imaging. Furthermore, I serve on the editorial board of the scientific journal Inverse Problems.

Within project C2, we have developed the software PyFWI for interactive simulation of seismic inversion.
